|Saturday is this year’s Gay Pride parade through the centre of Amsterdam. There are banners up on every bridge along the route – which follows Prinsengracht and then loops into the Amstel near the Stadhuis (townhall).
The parade is a long queue of boats, each one decorated and themed. It’s great fun, and the canal shores are lined with supporters cheering crazily.
|The posters around town give a hint of what’s to come on Saturday, outrageous costumes, over-the-top theatrics. Last year there was a range of themes to the boats, from outrageous to the political. I’m curious what will be on show this year.|
