On the first Sunday of the month there’s a market at Westergasfabriek, which focuses on craft and fashion items. Today it was combined with a ‘Bevrijdingsfestival’, to commemorate that today is Liberation day here in the Netherlands. The list of participants is long, and participants seem to vary from month to month – which means it’s worth going back and visiting again.
Here are some photos from today’s visit.
This weekend finally feels like spring – and it was sunny.
Lots of stalls have “upcycled” products, these messenger bags are made from old post office mail delivery sacks.
Bright colours, This stall had bags made from imported bright canvas.
One of my favourite stalls is “Wol Wolfje”, which makes toys from (I think) recycled sweaters. The penguin family were cute, but it was a Dr Seuss tree with purple bark and lime green leaves that nearly came home with me.
All that wandering around in the sun builds up an appetite. Today I choose Pinxto, a Basque treat of tiny snacks.
